In a Unionized environment the terms of the Collective Agreement govern the conditions of employment. Below are the Collective Agreements that members of our local have negotiated to improve their working conditions.

Good agreements mean little if they are not enforced. All members have a responsibility to ensure that the Employer is keeping up their side of the bargain. This can usually be done by a member or Union Representative, such as a Steward, discussing a violation of the Collective Agreement with management. Sometimes it is necessary to file a formal grievance and in some cases the matter may go all the way to Arbitration.

Understanding your Collective Agreement is vital to effective enforcement yet interpreting collective agreement language can be challenging. Fortunately there are well over 10,000 arbitration cases which have interpreted and applied the provisions of collective agreements. There are also numerous books which provide an invaluable resource. more

Members of CWA Local 30248 who have questions regarding the interpretation of their Collective Agreement should contact their Steward or the Business Agent at 705-749-0198 or 1-800-291-9072.
